Hello, My name is Anyssa, I grew up in one of the poorest regions in Texas. With family members
dying of preventable diseases, and the majority of the community not having access to
standard medical care, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare.
It was Dec 16, 2000, and I remember like it was yesterday. “Your grandma has died, my mom said with heartbreak in her voice!”
My heart was pulsing through my ears, and I could faintly make out what she was saying. “Anyssa, ARE YOU OKAY,?” she asked multiple times. I think I stopped breathing for a bit.
What JUST happened? Was I going to be okay? Was my mom going to be okay. That is a lot of stress and heartbreak at just 13 years old.
My mom is the bravest person I know…. She was caring for a sick parent and 4 kids (the youngest was just 4 months old) with grace and strength.
My grandma had diabetes for over 15 years. She died at the young age of 72, and it could have been prevented.

At the core of my work is a desire to make health and well-being more accessible, actionable, and human-centered. I thrive on solving challenges that make a real diff erence in people’s lives.
How can we remove friction in health and wellness content so that taking the next step feels natural, not overwhelming?
How do we create science-backed content that isn’t just informative but also empowering and deeply personal?
How can we design behavior change strategies that actually work—so people don’t just consume content, but act on it?
How do we help moms navigate postpartum with less guilt and more self-compassion, knowing they are already doing enough?
These are the questions that drive my work. Whether it’s writing, product design, or consulting, my goal is to create content that informs, inspires, and makes a measurable difference.
